Tobacco leaf drying process:

Tobacco leaf drying is a continuous process. For the convenience of process operation, according to the difference of characteristics before and after the change process of tobacco leaf, and the different requirements of industrial conditions during the change process of tobacco leaf, the drying process is divided into three stages or periods.
1. Yellowing period
Should adopt lower temperature, higher humidity, less ventilation and longer time. The main yellowing temperature of tobacco leaves should be controlled at 35°C-38°C, and the dry-wet bulb temperature difference should be maintained at 2°C-3°C to make the tobacco leaves 70%-80% yellow and soft. The yellowing temperature is controlled below 40°C~42°C, and the wet bulb temperature is maintained at 35°C~37°C, so that the tobacco leaves are basically completely yellow, fully withered and collapsed, and the main veins are soft, ensuring that the tobacco leaves are fully transformed and formed more Many aroma base substances. Therefore, at 41°C~42°C, the time should be prolonged appropriately, so that the tobacco leaves reach yellow patches with green veins and slightly green, the leaves are fully withered and collapsed, and the main veins are soft.
2. Fixing period
Eliminate the moisture in the leaves and accelerate the drying process. Through the large amount of water to remove the restriction and finally stop the change of the material in the leaf, the quality that has appeared is fixed. In the dehydration process, the part that has not yet turned yellow will turn yellow. Special attention should be paid to the formation of aroma substances and the browning reaction that have a major impact on quality. In order to ensure that the tobacco leaves are dry, full of yellowing and the formation of aroma substances, higher temperature, lower humidity, greater ventilation and sufficient time should be adopted. In the color fixing stage, the temperature should be raised at an appropriate speed according to the quality of the tobacco leaves, and the appropriate humidity should be mastered to ensure that the tobacco leaves completely turn yellow and smoothly color. At a dry bulb temperature of 46°C-48°C and a wet bulb temperature of 37°C -38°C, the tobacco leaves and tobacco tendons will turn yellow, reaching the yellow sheet and yellow tendons, and the small rolls will maintain a wet bulb temperature of 38°C-39°C at a dry bulb temperature of about 54C. , Prolong the proper time to reach the big tobacco roll, and promote the formation of more aroma substances.
3. Dry tendon period
It is mainly the period when the main vein water is removed. The main veins are tight in structure, large in volume, and long in the transfer of cell water. Vaporization and removal are slow, and further heating and dehumidification are required to achieve the purpose of the tendons. However, the temperature in the dry gluten period should not be too high, otherwise it will cause volatile loss or further conversion of aroma substances and reduce the quality. The maximum temperature of the dry tendon stage should be controlled at 65-68, and the wet bulb temperature should be controlled at 40-43to improve the color and chromaticity of tobacco leaves, while reducing the volatilization and loss of tobacco aroma substances.
